The Music Program at St. John is a thriving and joyful community, made of several groups, led by our Music Director, and supported by many talented musicians and accompanists.  Together, they help the assembly to feel the presence of God among us and understand the Word of God through the spiritual gift of music.  To volunteer your musical gifts or join any of these groups, please contact our Music Director for more information.

Music Opportunities

Chorale

  • The St. John Chorale is a vibrant church choir open to adults, high school and above, which enhances worship at regular and special services.  The chorale pieces performed vary in genre and scope, and occasionally incorporate the participation of other musical groups.   If you join, you will experience engaging musical education, form lasting friendships, and find a home in a fun and joyful community of singers.

Praise Team

  • The Praise Team leads our 11:00 a.m. Sunday service in an eclectic mix of energetic music comprised of contemporary praise, remixed traditional hymns, and other musical genres.  They also frequently accompany other musical groups.  Vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, and other instrumentalists are always welcome to join the team, rotating in and out of the band as schedules allow.

Handbell Choir

  • The Handbell Choir is a musical group open to adults, high school and above, which enhances worship at different services using handbells and chimes.  Some ability to read sheet music and keep rhythm is needed, but if you love music and can’t sing or play a solo instrument, this fun and quirky community may be the group for you!
Joyful Singers Youth Choir

The love of music starts early at St. John with our “Sunday School Sings” group!  In addition to singing at worship services, our children perform during special holiday and music celebrations, such as our Sunday School Christmas Program in December.  Children learn how to play chimes and various other rhythm/“Orff” instruments (xylophones, etc), participate in engaging musical/faith education from our Music Director, and find the joy of performing at church!

Soloists & Instrumentalists

We love to enhance our worship with special music and feature the musical talents of our St. John community.  If you are a vocalist or play an instrument and would like to offer your gifts as a solo performer, part of an ensemble, or as an accompanist to congregational singing or other musical groups, please reach out to our musical director!
